Andrew Casey

As President and CEO of BIOTECanada, Andrew Casey oversees the day-to-day running of the association. He is therefore the principal spokesperson for the biotechnology industry in Canada to the government, regulatory authorities, international bodies, the media and the public. It also ensures that BIOTECanada continues to play a role as a privileged partner for the government in the development of policies that affect the Canadian biotechnology sector and BIOTECanada members.

Prior to joining BIOTECanada, Andrew Casey served as Vice President of Public Affairs and International Trade and Vice President of Government Relations and Communications for the Forest Products Association of Canada. He was then responsible for government relations, communications, media relations, advertising and international trade obligations. From 1993 to 2004, he was assistant vice-president of government relations for the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association. Between 1989 and 1993, Andrew Casey held positions as Political Attaché to an MP and Minister of State (Finance).

high school at Loyola High School (Montreal) and college at Cégep Champlain – St. Lawrence (Quebec), he completed a Bachelor of Arts in political science at Carleton University (Ottawa).
